As a 100% locally owned and operated family business, we at Spirit of the Wildwood are passionate about sharing the wild beauty and rich history of our homeland with you. With a combined life experience of over a century in the northern Great Lakes area, we offer you the expertise and inspiration we’ve gathered from our years lived with the land and from our metis (mixed-blood) family heritage.
Spirit of the Wildwood LLC includes experienced instructors from Northern Michigan University’s Center for Native American Studies and Bay de Noc Community College who have taught anthropology and Native American history classes and have developed courses based on Ojibwe Traditional Ecological Knowledge, forest-immersion, and international Indigenous environmental philosophies, among others. We’re also North Country artists as well as published writers in environmental and rural history.
