Welcome to Spirit of the Wildwood – in the heart of the beautiful and historic Northwoods! We’re happy to have you here.
There is so much to share about this incredible place from its millenia old history to its inspiring shorelines to its often flower strewn woodlands. I’ve lived in the Great Lakes region all my life, with family roots going back into the previous two centuries and beyond, yet the place continues to both amaze and surprise me.
Over the last decade, I’ve taught traditional Ojibwe ecology, Indigenous eco-activism, and Northwoods environmental history for NMU’s Center for Native American Studies. Throughout my life, I’ve found richness beyond measure in what the land has to teach and what others have to share about lives lived on the land, in the heart of the Northwoods.
Spirit of the Wildwood LLC comes from my family’s love of and experience with this land as well as from our mixed-blood heritage.
So much has changed with our land and waters since colonization. Our hopes are to bring a sense of what the land was like in the time of our ancestors so we can visualize a beautiful and healthy tomorrow.
Thank-you/miigwech/merci for stopping by! We look forward to hearing from you soon!
